Finding every key figure in Persona 3 Reload requires paying attention to local gathering spots and fulfilling specific prerequisite stats. Among the various characters scattered around Tatsumi Port Island, players often search for the Thin Young Man, who represents the Sun Social Link. Understanding where to find him and how to initiate his storyline is crucial for completing your Social Link collection.
Where to Find the Thin Young Man
The Thin Young Man, whose name is Akinari Kamiki, can be found sitting on a bench at the Naganaki Shrine. He appears exclusively during daytime hours on Sundays throughout the game. Players can visit the shrine on sunny weekends to interact with him directly after meeting specific unlock conditions.
Prerequisites to Unlock Akinari's Social Link
Before you can initiate the Sun Social Link with Akinari, you must fulfill a few gameplay requirements. First, you need to reach Rank 3 in Maiko's Hanged Man Social Link, where Akinari makes his initial appearance. Additionally, your character must reach Rank 4 in Academics (Smart) to engage in meaningful conversation with him.
Retrieving the Missing Pen
Upon speaking with Akinari at Rank 4 Academics, he will mention that he has lost his fountain pen. To retrieve this item, you must wait until Koromaru joins your dormitory party later in the story. Interacting with Koromaru at the dorm will allow you to receive the missing pen and return it to Akinari at Naganaki Shrine.
Social Link Progression Tips
Returning the pen official initiates the Sun Social Link, allowing you to advance your relationship on subsequent Sundays. Carrying a Persona of the Sun Arcana during your meetings significantly boosts the affinity points earned from dialogue choices. Because Sundays are limited, planning your schedule around his availability ensures you reach Rank 10 before the end of the game.
